I paint and draw because I have to.
My inspiration comes from nature, direct experience and a great visual narrative.
My work is usually a narrative of relationships. The relationship between artist and subject.
The harmony of land and sky or sitter and surroundings. What is beyond words.
Inspiration is a starting point.
A view out of the car window, a personality or pose that strikes me.
Or an idea that I would like to explore.
It can all happen in the briefest of moments. The work that follows is often long and can be a struggle,
sometimes a failure. But success when it comes is another kind of inspiration that drives me to repeat the cycle.
Making art is what I love to do.
